Fox Cities Chamber Presents Manufacturer of the Year Award to C3

awardTechnology and innovation are the keystones to the success of three Fox Cities Area firms that have been recognized by the Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce. At its annual meeting Wednesday at the Radisson Paper Valley Hotel in Appleton, the Chamber presented its 2005 Manufacturer of the Year Awards to C3 Corporation, Surface Mount Technology Corp., and J.J. Keller & Associates, Inc.

The event was sponsored by BuildMyOwnSite.com, The Business News, Community First Credit Union, Menasha Corporation, Network Health Plan, Secura Insurance Companies and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.

The Manufacturer of the Year Awards were again sponsored by Virchow, Krause & Company, LLP.

Small Manufacturer Category: C3 Corporation

This rapidly growing manufacturing and engineering company relies heavily on local businesses and provides high-paying, knowledge-based jobs to local professionals at its new state-of-the-art technology center in Appleton’s Northeast Business Park. The 18,000 square-foot building provides 7,200 square feet of office space and 10,800 square feet of manufacturing space, with room to grow on both sides of the operation. The company increased its employment from 15 to 29 in a year’s time.

C3 is highly dependent on technology, including powerful design tools as well as customized software and a highly stable, high-speed network. A fundamental element of C3’s business strategy is to attain a high ratio(85%) of highly skilled technology professionals, and to outsource the majority of non-technology based activities. This allows the firm to concentrate its investment on high value-add employees who are directly involved in the development of advanced technology solutions. Worker training and retraining are essential to continued efficiency and innovation.

In its pursuit of continuous improvement and operational excellence, the firm is forming a four-person advisory board to assist with strategy and evaluation. In its hiring, the company looks for skilled, knowledgeable individuals who are willing to participate in the future direction of the operation.

C3 is a sponsor of the American Cancer Society Sole Burner, and supports the Walk for Diabetes, and seasonal fundraising for the Salvation Army.
