What makes C³ compression equipment stand out?
We wanted to go deeper into what makes our equipment your best investment. It’s easy to say it’s “quality” or “the best on the market,” but what does that really mean? How does C³ accomplish this?
We’ll be dropping a series of videos showing you the components of our machine designs that stand out from other machines like it. Each category of equipment, lamination or compression, has universal features we’ve carefully R&D’d to increase the caliber of your manufacturing.
There are two goals to a perfect seal:
When a product is compressed in the press section, the air needs to be kept out as it moves to the roll cage. This is the responsibility of the seal bars. Coming down on all four sides of the package, the seal bars heat the film so the two layers bond together, forming the seal. Here’s how uniformity and strength come together to form a perfect seal.
If a seal is bonded well in some areas, but only OK in others, you’re left with a package that is susceptible to popping open. A nightmare, especially with products like large foam blocks. Uniformity becomes a necessity in creating an even bond across the entire seal of the package.
C³’s heat seal bars do this by regulating a steady temperature across the entire seal bar. It’s set to just the right degree to create the bond without damaging the film. The bar temperature is controlled, so fluctuations in the climate of the facility will not affect the temperature of the bars.
Controlled heat also protects the parts from damage, meaning less maintenance for your operators and longer-lasting seal bars.
The second component to a perfect seal is strength. Uniformity is important, but not if the seal isn’t strong across the package. The package requires a 40-ton press to push the air out, so the seal needs to be strong enough to hold that compression.
The temperature of the heat seal bars is set to create a tackiness in the first few layers of film so they bond together to form the seal. If they are too hot or stay on the film too long, we’re at risk of severing the film. Good if you want to cut the film, bad if you’re trying to create a package.
C³ provides poly film to use with our compression packaging equipment. This film has been tested thousands of times on all kinds of products and conditions and therefore, is the recommended type to use for your packaging.
This is just one component of our compression machinery that helps create ideal packages for foam and mattress products. The heat seal bars play an important role in protecting the product and guaranteeing its security in the final package. Without them, the press would be useless.
We focused on improving the heat seal bar section by adding a fourth bar to the compression machinery. This addition is now standard on all compression machines and adds an extra layer of security to the package. The fourth seal bar allows for package variability, with options for semi-compressed packages or flat packaging.
We’re constantly reviewing our machinery to see what we can improve next. See the latest machines using this technology and learn more about how you can improve your packaging with C³ compression equipment.
